This immersive foraging program will guide you in confidently identifying and working with the abundance of wild edible and medicinal plants and fungi of Southern Appalachia.

Over this two-month immersion, you will gain confidence in safely identifying and sustainably foraging wild plants and fungi, as well as gaining practical skills in cooking, wild crafting, preserving, and making simple herbal medicines. With hands-on practice throughout the season, this program supports you in beginning to build your own wild pantry for lasting food and healthcare security.

Community & Connection

At Wandering Home, we believe no one learns in a vacuum - we are all connected and the importance of community and interconnection is woven into our programs. You’ll join a supportive community of foragers, herbalists, nature nerds, and wildly curious folks who are learning together.

By slowing down and spending intentional time in wild places, you’ll feel more confident in your ability to identify and wild harvest, increasing your food and healthcare security for you, your family, and your community while reconnecting with yourself and the more-than-human world. Time in nature, held in community, will allow you to feel calmer and more present in your body, giving you more energy, a healthier nervous system, and more joy in everyday tasks.

Between in-person classes, instructors will share prompts and suggestions for you to continue practicing what we have learned together. You’ll connect with other passionate plant people, spend time outdoors together, and strengthen your learning through ongoing, communal practice.
